Our book this month will be Freeing Jesus: Rediscovering Jesus as Friend, Teacher, Savior, Lord, Way, and Presence, by Diana Butler Bass. Bass is herself Episcopalian and is a respected writer on faith, politics, and culture. In this book, she combines memoir and theological reflection to explore six images of Jesus and how our responses to them change over our lifetimes. We’ll meet to talk about the introduction and first three chapters of her book at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5.
In general, we meet monthly in the Parish Hall, usually on a Tuesday evening. We typically read each book over two months. Past reads have included Rachel Held Evans' Wholehearted Faith, Richard Rohr's Things Hidden, Sara Miles's Take This Bread, and Gregory Boyle's Barking to the Choir.

As followers of Jesus, what do we owe Caesar—and why? How much support… obedience... cooperation do people of faith owe to the governing powers of the nation in which they live? When we perceive a conflict between the claims of government and gospel, what do we owe to God? These are questions that have troubled the church from Jesus’s own day to our own. They bear revisiting as our nation prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday, so we’ll meet to explore them at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 30.
Trinity’s “Loving the Questions” series takes place more-or-less monthly on Saturday mornings. These conversations typically last around 90 minutes and include both teaching and discussion. Past topics have included Holy Eucharist, salvation, and Anglican history.
